February 1st marks the first day of the new school year in Bolivia. (Kids just had summer break throughout December-January.) At House 2 especially, the morning routine gets a little on the insane side trying to get 13 dressed, clean, fed, and out of the door for school! Here's the House 2 lineup of our students from kindergarteners to second graders. They were so excited for their first day!
Our oldest Casa de Amor child - super bright and well-behaved, entering in 2nd grade!
2nd grader #2
...and our oldest Casa de Amor girl, also in the 2nd grade now!
Mr. Morning Person was beside himself with excitement to finally start 1st grade!
His buddy, our other 1st grader.
Her little brother finally gets to go to kindergarten, too! This time last year he was pretty upset that it hadn't been his turn to go. This year, he's pumped.
...and his best buddy is in his class! Strike that pose, boy.
Our kindergarten girlie! She's been so excited about school that she's decided it's best that she just dances around everywhere she goes. Hilarious? Maybe. Believe me, she's got moves.
And another kindergartener! His little brother, to the right, was CRUSHED that he was not allowed to tag along at school!
...speaking of sibs!
Our new kindergarteners - bringing the excitement about the 1st day of school to a whooole new level!
Whooooo's ready?!
"Opening Ceremonies" - our big kids' school
...but our oldest gang at House 2 aren't the only ones welcoming the new school year. The Bolivian law has changed this year and now basically requires that all children attend pre-kindergarten before being admitted into kindergarten. Sooo, the Baby Home is headed to school, too!
Let the pre-k chaos begin!
So stressful, so stressful.
We'll give you the pre-school line-up here at House 1:
Mr. B
Height: midget size
Enjoys: skyping, backpacks, and all things edible. (Or making unedible things edible.)
Quote repeated multiple times daily: "Tia, Tia, look! I'm so handsome."

Misses L - Now, Misses J (just got a name change due to paperwork. She's a little confused for the moment but is answering to her new name a lot of the time now!)
Height: Even shorter than the guy above
Enjoys: smiling with her eyes shut for the camera, talking in a high pitch voice, and showing other kids who's boss.
Does not enjoy dogs. At all.

And Mr. J
Height: about twice as tall as the other two
Enjoys: bikes, skipping, and spilling his food on purpose so as not to have to eat it

Quotes about school: "My teacher is going to love me."
From House 2, the younger bunch goes to pre-k now, too!
Marching the troops at House 1
The House 2 kiddos get on the bus. Just kidding...that's def just the house monster truck!
Ps - hey kaley, you're a creep. :)
Peeking into preschool
Did not take his hood off for the entire first day of school. Also, after his first day, the teacher made the comment that he is a mess. And also tried to steal everyone else's snack. Shocker.
Quick glimpse at kindergarten, too:
At House 2, only one of the 14 children is too young for school still. She's ok staying at home getting rolled up in the carpet.
Happy Back to School!
