Over the past couple of months I have been going to a small church with the family of one of my teachers and some friends from school. The congregation has been extremely welcoming, particularly to the 5-7 kids I've been bringing along each week! The service is completely in Spanish, has a special time of worship with kids each week, and also has fun Sunday School time for our kiddos. For several weeks now I've gotten to take all of our older kids regularly each week, (along with toddlers who rotate week to week,) so it's fun to see our big kids learning the routine, remembering the songs, and getting to know other people at church. They get very excited about Sundays!
This past Sunday at my church here we had a Christmas service, (since most churches don't seem to do any sort of Christmas Eve service this week.) The service was, in large part, a celebration of the kids of the congregation, too. We sang all sorts of kids' songs, had skits, gave out Sunday School class awards, and even watched a puppet show.
What's a Christmas service without people dressed up like vultures, reptiles, and Sylvester the Looney Tunes cat?
And a puppet show of the Christmas Story wouldn't be complete without Jesus, Mary, the angel, children, and a Christmas panda?
At the end of the service, all of the kids were given hot chocolate...

Finally, the afternoon ended with a lunch fundraiser for our upcoming mission trip 2 days after Christmas. (More on that later...) Pretend that you don't see the disaster that we turned the sanctuary into with spilled food!
Also - so thankful for friends who are always so enthusiastic to help out with the kids every week. Lauren and Angelica are always up for taking someone to the bano, holding little ones, and even feeding us after church. Our kids love y'all!
