TRIPLETS! TRIPLETS! TRIPLETS!!!

LOOK WHO MOVED IN!
As of yesterday, Casa de Amor has taken in abandoned triplet girls! I don't think it's possible to show how excited we are to have the privilege of taking care of these three. They are going to turn one month old this week and have been in the NICU at a local hospital since birth. They were released to us yesterday after a lot of decision-making from SEDEGES - Child Social Services in Cochabamba. These three have actually become quite the little celebrities in Cochabamba, making the front page of the paper several times and even being named "The Golden Triplets!" Some of the details that we know about their backgrounds - their mom disappeared shortly after giving birth and could not be found until yesterday! However, the triplets' grandmother appeared shortly after the news coverage of the triplets began. (Born on February 16th, we heard about them on the 22nd or 23rd, I think.) The media has covered their story continuously throughout the past three weeks, and partly because of this the triplets have received several donations in the form of diapers and formula...great news! At this point, they are unable to live with their grandmother, so we have them with us for at least a few months until they grow (and get rid of their FEEDING TUBES!) After 2-3 months we think that we will reevaluate with SEDEGES as to their next steps.
What a start these girlies have had...we've been playing the waiting game for a couple of weeks now as various family members appeared and as the hospital delayed their discharges to see if we were actually going to take them in. (I was not-so-secretly hoping that we would have them here!)
We've got their own room set up and charts galore to keep track of feedings and meds. A few of us are rotating every 3 nights or so, one person taking all 3 for the night and then catching up on sleep the other nights. Now we are getting into a routine with three TINY newborns, and while there is going to be a little lost shut-eye for a while, it is all so incredibly worth it!

Meet the girls!

Here's Triplet #1...the biggest and best eater right now. Weighing in at about 4.2 lbs

Triplet #2...the smallest, weighing about 3.7lbs

Baby #3...not going to lie, this baby's going to become my special project! :) She's got some improving to do with feedings! She's also about 4.2 lbs right now and the baby of the babies.

Last day in the NICU

Tia Roxana visiting the NICU...she's a natural!

Meeting the fam!

This makes me smile...our "little" 6-month-old. Picking up this chunk is a lot more work than holding one of the triplets! :)

Good thing we had some extra hands on deck today! :) The fam's been visiting since Alison and Bate figured out they had the same spring break!

Snuggled up at home
SUCH a happy day!
