Spring Picture Day

Here we all are! Well...about a week ago. Now we have 3 babies who weren't here for this day!

Some of House 1

House 2
 House 3

Seems like tradition...a set of twins crying during photo shoots!

Although maybe her being tackled had something to do with that?

After pictures we had a dance...BMS-style as far as distance goes.

Happy May!

Baby Update!

"It's a......."
Ha - we got such a fun surprise yesterday with the arrival of this newborn! And although she came dressed completely in blue, she is definitely a beautiful baby girl. She came to us from local hospital, where her mother was a victim of rape. When she arrived at the Baby Home, she wasn't 24 hours old yet...helloooo newborn.  Due to some contagious skin issues at the house, we've got this girl isolated...so she's all mine for a little while. And her throwing up all over my pillow around 4am was a wonderful reminder of that news.

And couldn't help but think that she reminds me a lot of little Merry Christmas when she arrived back in September!

BUT there's more!
A few weeks ago out in a smaller village nearby, a gas unit used for the oven/stove exploded in a house, burning a mother and her two children. All three were taken to the hospital, where the mother died, leaving behind a 7-year-old girl and a 3-month-old boy. These children are half siblings, and the older sister had relatives from her half of the family who will take her in. However, because they are not blood-relatives of the little brother, they could not take him, too, and so he has come to the Baby Home. He got here yesterday, as well. One side of his face is burned, and he underwent a skin graft from his thigh. The burn looks like it is healing well, and for a few months, Spiderman here will be sporting his mask.

And very briefly unmasked!

Kristin & I each have our assigned, isolated baby...let me tell you, it's a party in this room. All the time.

Annnnd finally, we also have a 3rd new arrival to Casa de Amor - a chubby-cheeked, 1 1/2 month old little boy!

It's fun to have the house filling up. And while we're on the subject of babies, let's take a peek at all of our Under-1-Year-Olds:

3 month old boy

The ScabieBaby herself! Not quite 4 mos and looking more like Ana Maria by the day!

Honoring Tio Mateo.

Can't believe this girl's 10 months!

And last but not least, the most adorable baby in the entire world. (Not biased - fact.)

We love our little-ests!

Happy 4th!

This squirt turned 4 on Saturday!

...and Casa 3 hosted one of the best birthday parties we've had! All 3 houses headed out to a farm in Tiquipaya where the kids played outside, got dirty, ate, played outside, got dirty, ate some more, and the kept on getting dirty. It was awesome.

 Construction projects underway

"Soldadito!! Soldadito!"

This guy referred to himself as Tarzan throughout the day.

We so need a tireswing!

Can toss!

Off to see the farm animals! We look kind of like our own little parade.

Just like being in Tennessee, huh?

Twin girls...

...and twin calves!

So brave.

Lunch time

Cutting the cake...it was an emotional moment.
"I'm so olddddddd!"

Post-party extra:
It had been a long day. Ending the afternoon lounging, being handfed potato chips.
Livin the dream, that boy.

Making a Run for It

Oh so sneaky...this 3 year old thought it would be hilarious to dump my dirty clothes on the floor...

...and then try to make a run for it.
He didn't get very far. :)

So, Kristin & I try to take out our 5-year-old dates for a night on the town, and we get completely ignored the entire night. We made the mistake of handing over our cell phones. Please note that they are not actually calling, playing games, or texting anyone...they can't even read. Even so, we got burned.

Happy Birthday To You...

I'm THREE today!
Happy, happy, happy birthday to a precious 3 year old girlie!

This has been an exciting day - it's just neat to look back on when she arrived back in September and see some of the changes that she's made. To sum her up in one word, I think "incredible" would work. :)

All this not to say that we've cured her of special needs, but she is adapting and learning how to deal with her physical handicaps. I'm so thankful for being able to watch her grow and learn.

Humming & clapping along

I will never forget that this girl's favorite food group is whipped cream.

There were some other whipped cream fans in the crowd, too.
